Jimmy van Kan (32) likely holds the most hectic position at 12B Clean—the place where everything comes together. It’s the intersection of clients and the 180 employees in an industry where no two days are the same. Yet Jimmy keeps his cool. He ensures that panic, stress, and “headless chicken” behavior are unknown quantities at 12B Clean. A rarity in the cleaning industry!
My Story
Crime scene work is the toughest job in our company
Jimmy oversees the workflow of the three divisions (the Workers, the Masters, and the Profs) and, as an all-around professional, is also willing to regularly visit the shop floor. Jimmy: “We’re a truly people-oriented organization—call it a big family. With that in mind, I want to know what’s going on. How things actually work in practice. By not just sitting behind a desk, I can tailor our services even better to people’s needs. Our ‘Profs’ department, in particular, can count on my presence on a regular basis. Crime scene work is the toughest part of our business. You have to be capable of handling it and able to cope with it—and be able to let it go.”
It's about how it works in practice
Jimmy doesn’t bring the hustle and bustle of the day home with him. Nor does he bring home the scenes he witnesses in his work dealing with morbid cases. “After a shower and changing clothes, I’m Jimmy again—a husband to my wife and a father to my four children. You can plan everything on paper, but it’s all about putting it into practice. Will those 180 colleagues really go the extra mile for you? Can you get them to the other side of the country within two hours for an emergency assignment? The answer is a resounding YES. And that’s only possible in a company where you’re heard and seen, and where we work together. We’re proud of that.”
