What is ozone therapy?
Ozone treatment is a highly effective way to eliminate unpleasant odors. In this process, an ozone generator converts oxygen into ozone (active oxygen, O₃). The result of this molecular process is odorless air. After ozone treatment, the air smells nice and fresh again. You might be thinking, “But doesn’t an air freshener do the same thing?” You’re right. But while an air freshener only works temporarily, ozone permanently removes odors.

Ozone disinfection in your home or business can be an excellent way to make it smell fresh again. Examples of situations in which the experts at 12b Clean perform ozone treatment:
- Removing smoke odors, for example, in preparation for the sale of a home. This is often done in conjunction with nicotine cleaning.
- Removing the smell of a corpse. When a corpse has been in a home and potentially harmful odors need to be eliminated.
- Removing other unpleasant odors, such as the smell of urine (for example, from animals) and the smell of smoke.

This is how we work
Safety is our top priority when performing the treatment. To ensure this, we provide instructions to the client. For example, no one is allowed to enter the room while the ozone treatment is being performed.
- Before we begin, we adjust the room to the optimal temperature for targeting the molecules that cause odors. We block off ventilation ducts and seal any gaps to ensure the process remains safe for the neighbors. We also take fire alarms into account.
- We then set up our equipment at a strategic location (or locations). The client is reminded once again that no one is allowed to enter the area until we give the all-clear. To further emphasize this, we place warning signs at the entrance(s) to the area being treated, indicating that entry is prohibited due to high concentrations of ozone.
- Once safety has been ensured, we will begin the ozone treatment.
- After the ozone treatment, our ozone expert returns to open all the windows. He does this while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment. We also have an ozone meter that allows us to measure the concentration of ozone in the air. All of this is done to ensure the process is carried out safely.

Can I perform an ozone treatment myself?
If you want to thoroughly eliminate all odors, high concentrations of ozone are required. The high concentrations of ozone needed for deodorization are dangerous if you are not properly trained. The person installing the system must be certified to do so. Ozone not only breaks down the molecules that cause odors but also destroys all living things, such as people, plants, and, for example, goldfish. In short, anything organic. For these reasons, we strongly advise against doing this yourself.
We have professional ozone machines with capacities of 10,000, 20,000, and 60,000 ozone per hour. With these machines, our experience, and a strong commitment to safety, we can safely eliminate all—and I mean absolutely all—odors.
