The Profs
It’s no coincidence that the cleaners at the Crime Scene Clean Team are called “the Pros” at 12B Clean. They are able to cope with the emotionally taxing situations they face every day. An employee with the “Pro” designation is trained and battle-tested, and also has the right knowledge and equipment to do the job professionally.
Every year in the Netherlands, an average of 120 people are murdered and about 1,800 people die by suicide. The police, fire department, and medical teams are called in to investigate at the crime scene.
In the event of a murder, the area is cordoned off to preserve evidence and keep curious onlookers out of the way. But that’s not the only reason; the risk of contamination also plays a major role. It’s no coincidence, then, that during the investigation, detectives wear white sterile suits to prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses, among other things.
Once the body has been removed, the investigation has been completed, and the crime scene has been cleared, “the Pros” from 12B Clean step in to clean up the scene.
As a crime scene cleaner, you need to be mentally strong, set your emotions aside, and follow a step-by-step plan to carry out your work professionally. The sooner the scene of the incident is restored to normal, the better it is for the bereaved and the surrounding community.
A swift and effective response is also necessary to prevent the situation from getting (even) worse. The often extreme odor of decomposing bodies attracts vermin and insects, making the site a health hazard and a major nuisance to the immediate vicinity.
The work is always performed as a team of at least two people. They can clean the location efficiently and support each other in doing so.
Priority 1:
The bodily fluids released upon death may contain disease-causing viruses and bacteria. This also applies to blood, which is almost always found at the crime scene. To prevent infection with tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV, etc., immediate and thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection are necessary.
To remove blood and fluid stains, “The Pros” at 12B Clean use industrial and chemical cleaning agents they have developed themselves, which more than meet the requirements set forth in biohazard regulations. “The Pros” deliver professional results and are able to leave the crime scene completely clean and odor-free within a few hours.
Priority 2:
There’s a lot involved in cleaning up a crime scene. That’s why you need to be specially trained for these tasks. You also have to be personally resilient. The situation and the circumstances are always emotionally charged. You never really get used to it.
The “Pros” at 12B Clean more than meet the extreme requirements of crime scene cleaning. They are trained in biohazard techniques, know which methods and cleaning and disinfecting agents are needed, and know how to work with compressed air and protective clothing. But they also know how to handle the human side of the matter: showing respect for the person involved, their family and loved ones, and the environment where the tragedy took place.
Based on their experience, the “Pros” at 12B Clean have developed a structured step-by-step plan for effectively cleaning a crime scene or the location where a body was found.
The task of cleaning a place where a death has occurred is a sensitive matter. We understand that you may need a personal explanation and further clarification. We guarantee complete discretion in carrying out our work and perform it with respect for the deceased, the family, the bereaved, and the surrounding area. They will be affected as little as possible. We are bound by the rules set forth in the Biohazard guidelines, but we do everything we can to ensure privacy and preserve personal belongings.
