Having Bird Droppings Removed from the Balcony

Removing bird droppings (pigeon droppings) from a balcony? We don’t do this just so people can sit on a clean and fresh balcony in the summer. We certainly do it because it poses a health hazard—not only to people but also to pets and other animals. Bird droppings contain parasites, bacteria, and fungi that can cause diseases, so it’s important to remove them promptly.

Here's how we remove bird droppings from a balcony

Of course, never with your hands. To avoid getting sick from the bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi in the droppings—and to prevent spreading them—we follow a series of steps to clear the area of bird droppings.

  1. First, we wet the balcony with an industrial cleaning solution mixed with water and let it soak in.
  2. First, we remove as much feces as possible by hand. We then dispose of it in sturdy plastic bags.
  3. We scrub and sweep the balcony using a special cleaning solution. This allows us to reach all the cracks and crevices on the balcony. We then rinse it off with water.
  4. It is only at this stage that we use our pressure washer.
  5. To make sure mold, bacteria, and viruses don't stand a chance, we spray the balcony again with a bleach solution. We let it dry. Once the area is completely dry, you can safely spend time there again.
