Man Captures How a Mouse Cleans Up His Shed Every Night
It’s somewhat reminiscent of the movie *Ratatouille*, an animated film in which a rat secretly cooks in a restaurant in Paris. However, in this case, it’s not fiction but reality. Rodney Holbrook, a 75-year-old nature photographer, captured it all on camera in his own shed.
“I couldn’t believe it”
Holbrook noticed that items he hadn't left in their proper places in his shed would mysteriously reappear in their original spots the next day. Intrigued by this phenomenon, he decided to set up a night-vision camera on his workbench to unravel the mystery.
When he looked at the footage the next day, he couldn't believe his eyes. The mouse could be seen collecting clothespins, corks, nuts, and bolts and neatly arranging them in a small container on Holbrook's workbench.
Surprised by this behavior, Holbrook began to experiment. He placed various objects on the workbench to see if the mouse could pick them up and drag them to the tray. To his surprise, the mouse was not deterred and tidied everything up neatly.
“I couldn’t believe it”
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the mouse tidying up,” Holbrook tells the BBC. “He was putting all sorts of things in the box—pieces of plastic, nuts, and bolts. I don’t worry about tidying up anymore, because I know he’ll take care of it. I just leave things lying around, and by morning he’s put them back where they belong.”
